Universal Modder Supported Games

Updated 2026-10-13

There is no fixed list of supported games. Universal Modder works by engine: it ships playbooks for engine families, and the agent works out a route for the specific game. Anything with anti-cheat in online play is excluded.

Quick answer
  • Best odds: single-player games on a playbook engine with an established mod loader.
  • Shown working in the README: Terraria, Age of Empires II: DE, GTA V and Minecraft.
  • Run um scan to see how your own games are classified.

From the README and AI Frontier Post, which counts 12 playbooks. A playbook means the agent has guidance for that engine, not that every game on it will work.

Mod loaders and tools it relies on

The README names these existing community tools, which the agent selects per game:

These are separate projects with their own licenses and install steps. The agent is supposed to ask before installing a loader into a game folder.

FAQ

Does Universal Modder work with Minecraft?

Yes, Minecraft has its own playbook, and the README’s GTA V × Minecraft showcase uses a Fabric mod. Bedrock Edition support is not stated.

Does it work with GTA V?

Story mode, yes: the showcase uses ScriptHookV and ReShade. GTA Online is an online game and falls outside the project’s rules.

Does it work with Steam games?

um scan finds Steam, Epic and Xbox installs according to AI Frontier Post. Whether a given game is moddable depends on its engine and protections.

How do I check a specific game?

Run um scan "Game Name" for the engine and ranked routes, then um kb search "Game Name" to see whether a field note already exists.

My game is not on a playbook engine. Can it still work?

Possibly. The native C++ and reverse-engineering routes exist for that, but expect more effort and less certainty.
